Street Sweeper Social ClubTOM MORELLO AND BOOTS RILEY JOIN FORCES TO FORM STREET SWEEPER SOCIAL CLUB

SELF-TITLED DEBUT ALBUM TO BE RELEASED JUNE 16th THROUGH WARNER MUSIC GROUP’S INDEPENDENT LABEL GROUP

DEBUT TOUR CONFIRMED WITH NINE INCH NAILS AND JANE’S ADDICTION Tour Dates below!

April 22nd, 2009 — New York, New York — Tom Morello and Boots Riley have joined forces to form Street Sweeper Social Club. The group’s anticipated self-titled debut album will be released June 16th through Warner Music Group’s Independent Label Group. The 11-song set was produced by Tom Morello and features Boots Riley on vocals, Morello on guitar and bass, and Stanton Moore (Galactic) on drums.

“It’s revolutionary party jams,” said Morello of Street Sweeper Social Club. “It’s got huge steamroller riffs combined with depth, charge, funk, while Boots unloads clip after clip of incendiary rhymes rich with satire and venom.” Riley added, “This is a time when the working class is being fleeced left and right. More families will be homeless and more people will be jobless. They’ll need something to listen to on their ipods while storming Wall Street.”

Street Sweeper Social Club’s debut tour will be opening all dates in North America on the Nine Inch Nails and Jane’s Addiction May-June Tour (confirmed dates below). The tour will find Nine Inch Nails and Jane’s Addiction sharing a stage for the first time since the debut of the Lollapalooza festival in 1991 (as well as the first tour by the original lineup of Jane’s Addiction in seventeen years).

Tom Morello is a founding member and guitarist of the rock bands Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave. The two bands are responsible for multiple Grammy Awards and a combined 30 million albums sold worldwide. Morello has also received critical acclaim as a solo artist known as The Nightwatchman. Widely celebrated for his unique voice as a master electric guitarist, he is recognized by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of the “100 Greatest Guitar Players of All-Time (#26).” He is also one of only two guitarists featured as a playable animated character in the overwhelmingly popular Activision video game Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. Tom Morello graduated from Harvard University with honors as a Political Science major and has been a widely recognized political activist throughout his career. With System of a Down’s Serj Tankian, Morello formed Axis of Justice, an organization whose purpose is to bring together musicians, music fans, and grassroots political organizations to fight for social justice.

Boots Riley is best known as the leader of The Coup, the seminal Hip-Hop group from Oakland, CA. As a producer and lyricist, Riley has crafted critically acclaimed albums for The Coup that have graced the year-end Top 10 lists of Rolling Stone, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, and more. They have also received “Album of the Year” honors from The Washington Post, Time Out New York, while Billboard Magazine declared the group “the best hip-hop act of the past decade.” Born in Chicago and raised in East Oakland’s Funktown neighborhood, Boots became a teenage community organizer. From his history of student organizing in Oakland’s public schools, serving on the central committee for the Progressive Labor Party, being the President of Youth InCar (Youth International Committee Against Racism), organizing to build California’s Anti-Racist Farm Workers’ Union, to developing “guerrilla hip hop concerts” (mobile concerts on flatbed trucks), Boots Riley has been an integral part of the progressive struggle for radical change through culture.

Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, the most electrifying carnival to ever
hit the summer concert circuit, is back…and bigger. Hard music legends MARILYN
MANSON and SLAYER will top the bill on this year’s highly anticipated tour,
which is set to kick off July 10 at the Sleep Train Amphitheatre in Sacramento,
CA. The festival will stop in Phoenix at Cricket Wireless Pavilion on Friday,
July 17. Tickets will go on sale Friday, April 24 at 10am.

Like last year’s Godzillian-sized lineup, the second annual Rockstar Energy
Drink Mayhem Festival will feature a gaggle of rock’s heaviest bands: the main
stage will see Marilyn Manson and Slayer joined by BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE and
KILLSWITCH ENGAGE; the Jägermeister stage will feature TRIVIUM, ALL THAT
REMAINS, GOD FORBID and the Jägermeister Battle of the Bands winner; the Hot
Topic stage will feature extreme metal bands CANNIBAL CORPSE, JOB FOR A COWBOY,
BEHEMOTH, BLACK DAHLIA MURDER and WHITECHAPEL. The World’s Greatest Freestyle
Motocross team METAL MULISHA will also be revving up the crowd with their unique
style of death-defying motorcycle stunts on all dates.

The tour will see Manson and Slayer performing tracks from each of their
long-awaited new albums. Manson will be playing “We’re From America” and lead
single “Arma…geddon,” both from new album The High End of Low, in stores May
26th. The album was produced by Manson, longtime friend and foil Twiggy Ramirez
and keyboardist Chris Vrenna. Manson fans will note that this is his first
collaboration with Ramirez in close to a decade.

TICKETS ON-SALE FRIDAY, APRIL 24 AT 10AM

Slayer will tear through “Psychopathy Red” and other new material from their
yet-to-be-titled new album. The band recently announced that “Psychopathy
Red”-the band’s first new song since 2006′s Christ Illusion-will be available as
a 7-inch vinyl disc beginning Saturday, April 18th, as part of the third annual
Record Store Day. Only 5,000 of the limited edition discs will be manufactured
worldwide, and they will be available exclusively at participating independent
record stores (log onto www.recordstoreday.com <http://www.recordstoreday.com/>
for the list of participating retailers). Slayer chose to unleash “Psychopathy
Red” on this day and only through independent record stores to acknowledge the
support those outlets have offered to the band and to metal music over the
years.

Killswitch Engage and producer Brendan O’Brien (Mastodon, Pearl Jam, Rage
Against The Machine) recently wrapped production on the follow-up to 2006′s
gold-certified release, As Daylight Dies. The band appeared on the cover of
Revolver magazine’s 2009 preview issue and was praised by Alternative Press and
Decibel for having “one of the most anticipated albums of 2009.”

Bullet For My Valentine are currently recording a new album with Don Gilmore
(Linkin Park, Avril Lavigne) in London and Wales.

The Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival is co-produced by Live Nation and is
the brainchild of Kevin Lyman, John Reese and CAA’s Darryl Eaton, the creative
team behind some of the industry’s most successful road jaunts, including the
long-running Vans Warped Tour and the Worldwide Rockstar Taste of Chaos Tour.

Following the proven model of utilizing sponsorship to deliver a lower ticket
price and an enhanced concert experience, the tour organizers have joined forces
once again with ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK, the festival’s title sponsor.

In addition to catching a slew of speaker-shredding performances,
festival-goers can take part in a number of activities, including playing the
newest video games, perusing vendors, attending autograph signing sessions and a
host of other interactive activities that will add to the carnival-like
experience.

The Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival is made possible through the support
of title sponsor Rockstar Energy Drink and supporting sponsors Hot Topic,
Jagermeister, Rockband 2, Hard Rock Cafe, Affliction, Revolver Magazine,
Roadrunner Records, Metal Blade Records, Pick The Band Records, Prosthetic
Records, the Shirts For A Cure Project, media partner FUEL TV and many more!

NINE INCH NAILS & JANE’S ADDICTION May 15th!

NINE INCH NAILS & JANE’S ADDICTION
FRIDAY, MAY 15

Nine Inch Nails and the original Jane’s Addiction lineup will embark on a co-headlining tour that will see these seminal artists sharing a stage for the first time since the historic debut of the Lollapalooza festival in 1991. The genesis of the upcoming tour came about in late 2008 after NIN’s Trent Reznor was tapped to produce Jane’s first recordings since reforming. The upcoming tour will make a stop in Phoenix at Cricket Wireless Pavilion on Friday, May 15. The show will begin at 7:30pm with Street Sweeper, a collaboration between Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine/The Nightwatchman and Boots Riley of The Coup. Tickets will go on sale Saturday, March 21 at 10am.

The NIN/JA tour will feature a streamlined NIN with Reznor on vocals, guitars, keys, Robin Finck on guitars and keys, Justin Meldal-Johnsen on bass and keys, and newest NIN member IIan Rubin on drums and keys. NIN’s stripped down configuration for the upcoming dates was inspired by a pair of club shows toward the end of last year’s wildly ambitious Lights In The Sky tour. Leaving the massive production in the trucks for those two nights freed up the band for spontaneous performances including several seldom-aired NIN classics and inspired NIN to take a similarly unencumbered and unpredictable approach to the May/June dates, which include previously announced NIN appearances at the Sasquatch and Bonnaroo festivals.

For the first time in seventeen years, the original lineup of Jane’s Addiction will tour – vocalist Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, bassist Eric Avery and drummer Stephen Perkins. The possibility of reforming first took shape in April 2008 when the musicians performed and accepted the Godlike Genius Award bestowed on them by N.M.E. Magazine at their US Awards ceremony. The band then tested the waters with small, secret shows around the Los Angeles area and the tremendous excitement from the shows lead to their decision to tour again.

TICKETS ON-SALE SATURDAY, MARCH 21 AT 10AM

The “full circle” nature of the co-headlining tour has not been lost on the artists, with Reznor recently blogging…

“Towards the beginning of my career in Nine Inch Nails, our biggest break came in the form of an invitation to perform a series of shows with Jane’s Addiction. These performances essentially created and defined the term “alternative” rock in the US, created an ongoing festival franchise that is still thriving (Lollapalooza), set the stage for Nirvana to shift popular taste a few months later, and were really fucking FUN to play and attend – truly the best times I’ve had. The shows were epic. So epic, they propelled NIN to the “next level” (whatever that means), but caused Jane’s to implode. The band broke up at the end of that tour.”

Jane’s guitarist Dave Navarro responded in kind, paying homage to the recent collaboration with the Nine Inch Nails frontman and revealing enthusiasm for the upcoming shows.

“Since our reformation, we have been spending a lot of time with Trent in the rehearsal studio and in the recording studio, working on new stuff, addressing some old stuff and more importantly, creating a friendship and working relationship,” Navarro explains. “It’s rare that touring partners have an opportunity to spend so much time together creatively before a tour. Regardless of the collaborative outcome, our time with Trent has brought forth a new focus and sense of purpose that we plan to share with you on a nightly basis.”

Dave Mathews Band May 6!

DAVE MATTHEWS BAND
MAY 6, 2009

Chart-Topping Band’s First Studio Album
In Four Years Set For April 14th Release

On April 14th, Dave Matthews Band returns with its first studio album in four years – and they’ll celebrate with a show at New York City’s Madison Square Garden that evening. The date will mark the beginning of the band’s spring tour, which will include a stop at Cricket Wireless Pavilion for a performance on Wednesday, May 6th. Dave Matthews Band fans will be treated to the group’s first-ever live performances of songs from the new album. The show will begin at 7:00pm with special guests The Avett Brothers. Tickets will go on-sale Saturday, January 17 at 10am.

The band’s yet-to-be-titled album is being produced by Rob Cavallo (Green Day, My Chemical Romance) and will be released by RCA Records. The record is the follow-up to 2005’s Stand Up, the fourth consecutive Dave Matthews Band studio album to enter The Billboard 200 at No. 1. Formed in Virginia in the early 1990’s, Dave Matthews Band has sold a collective 35 million units (CD and DVD combined). With over 15 million tickets sold, the group has been named the top-drawing American band in the world by Billboard.

“Their set delivered the goods at Rothbury, and few would argue they didn’t make the festival their own,” said The Detroit News of Dave Matthews Band’s headlining performance at last summer’s first-ever Rothbury festival. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette praised the group’s show there as “nothing short of inspired and inspiring” while The Oklahoman said: “this is a band that stretches out and thrives in the open air and under the stars.” “Mr. Matthews’ trade is to stir up a mélange of approaches – from rock and folksy pop to bluegrass and smooth jazz – to make doubt positive, make loss a gain, and make depression a celebration,” observed The Dallas Morning News.

Dave Matthews Band is Carter Beauford (drums), Stefan Lessard (bass), Dave Matthews (vocals, guitar) and Boyd Tinsley (violin). Saxophonist LeRoi Moore, the fifth original founding member, passed away during the band’s summer 2008 tour. Joining the group on the road this spring will be Tim Reynolds on guitar, Rashawn Ross on trumpet and Jeff Coffin on saxophone. They are also featured on the new album.

A Night with H.I.M 08.07.2007

By Steve Shugg, FromTheCrowd.com Contributor

If you were one of the few thousand people that attended the Projekt Revolution tour recently, you might have had the pleasure of seeing His Infernal Majesty, or more commonly known as H.I.M.; Well ‘pleasure’ might be an overstatement. The groups that they were playing with and the grandeur of this tour should have gotten the band a little more excited to be on stage than they seemed. In fact it was hard to tell if the band even felt like playing that night. It wasn’t so much a concert as it was just the band standing on stage playing their songs.

I’m sure if you are a big H.I.M. fan then it must have been pretty cool seeing your band on stage playing some of your favorite songs, however if you were like me and went into the concert sort of on the fence about how you felt about the band, they pushed you the wrong direction. It was nice to see that they played their hits like “Wings of a Butterfly” and “Killing Loneliness”, however it would have been nice to see them put some effort into their presence. Lead singer Ville Valo didn’t even talk until about 4 songs in, which was only to introduce the new song they were going to play, in between taking drags from his cigarette.

This was upsetting because they have a rather large following, and their sound onstage was pretty impressive, if they were just able to have some fun while they are playing, they could be considered a great band to go see live. Now only having experienced the band once, I will give them the benefit of the doubt and say that this was just the Phoenix stop where they were hard to watch on stage; I’m hoping anyway.

Overall I will have to see H.I.M. again so that I can at least compare this performance with others, however after this show I’m not going to be running out to get my tickets if they decide to come through the valley again.

Haste The Day Review 07.11.2007

By KMac, Staff Reviewer

You may not have heard of “Haste the Day,” but you’re sure to in the future. I had the privilege to talk to Jason Barnes, one of the band’s guitarists, in a pre-show interview. When asked what separates “Haste the Day” from other bands in his genre, he replied that the other four members, Stephen Keech, Brennan and Devin Chaulk, and Mike Murphy all sang and harmonized very well together. Armed with this knowledge of what to look for, I watched their performance from the crowd.

Watching the performance, I realized that even had I not had the opportunity to meet with Jason, I would have noticed the superior vocals. Although “Haste the Day” does not have the stage presence of the more experienced bands, they more than make up for it with their sound. People in the crowd unfamiliar with their music were able to understand the words in their songs, a rarity at an event such as Warped Tour, when yelling incoherently into the mic often prevails.

Although “Haste the Day” did not hold the attention of as much of the crowd as they could have, one must keep in mind that they hit the stage well after the gates opened. This may not say much elsewhere, but here in Phoenix that means that the early energy of the Warped Tour fans had vanished as they had been enduring 110+ temperatures and the brutal desert sun for five hours. However, the crowd did seem to enjoy some of the bands mellower vocals, especially the song “American Love.” They also had a very energetic following in the center of the crowd. The fans fists were banging in the air enthusiastically, exactly matching the movements of the guitarists head.

All in all, “Haste the Day” puts on a good show. The remarkable vocals, clarity of speech and well played instruments mesh perfectly.  “Haste the Day” is definitely a must see band on Warped Tour.
