- Tour highlights include Kia sweepstakes and autograph signing sessions from tour bands

IRVINE, Calif., June 25 /PRNewswire/ — Kia Motors America (KMA) today announced an exclusive automotive partnership with the 2009 Vans Warped Tour(R) for the second consecutive year, which includes hosting and sponsoring on-site events and activities during each tour stop. In addition to live music, autographs and VIP access, fans will have the opportunity to check out and obtain information on the all-new Kia vehicles on display, which will include the 2010 Kia Soul and 2010 Kia Forte compact sedan, and an exclusive first-look at the all-new 2010 Kia Forte Koup, which arrives in dealerships later this summer.

“After such a successful and positive partnership last year, we are excited to sign on again as the Official Automotive Partner of the 2009 Vans Warped Tour,” said Michael Sprague, vice president of marketing, KMA. “Music and design are key elements that help define popular culture and the Vans Warped Tour presents an opportunity for Kia Motors to showcase its latest vehicle designs to festival participants who can check out our cars while listening to their favorite bands.”

During each stop, concert-goers will have the opportunity to visit the interactive Kia Motors tent featuring a live MC, airbrush tattoo artists, a “Bare Your Soul” video confessional and other activities where fans can win cool Kia Motors merchandise and giveaways, including wristbands that provide access onto a covered VIP riser located in front of the main stage. Vans Warped Tour bands “White Tie Affair” and “Scary Kids Scaring Kids” will stop by the Kia Motors tent to sign autographs and meet and greet with fans.

As it does for the Vans Warped Tour, 2009 marks KMA’s 15th anniversary, and Kia Motors plans to celebrate with music lovers all summer long. Fans can check out tour photos and catch up on the latest Vans Warped Tour news at www.fuse.tv/wordofsteve. Fans can enter to win online or by visiting the Kia Motors tent during U.S. tour stops.

“As a company that understands how to reach younger audiences, Kia Motors is a perfect and natural fit to have back as the Official Automotive partner of this year’s Vans Warped Tour,” said Vans Warped Tour founder and producer Kevin Lyman. “Last year, fans experienced how fun the Kia Motors brand is through all of the activities and we know the fans will be happy to see Kia Motors back on the tour again this year.”

Kia Motors is proud to once again be the presenting sponsor of the solar-powered Kia Kevin Says Stage, where local, up-and-coming and unsigned artists have the opportunity to perform on the only touring solar-powered stage in the country – providing all the rock without the environmental impact. Last year the use of solar power resulted in a CO2 emission reduction of 8,360 pounds. Kia Motors also is teaming up with Warped Eco Initiative to remind fans that “everything you do makes a difference.”

Michael Jackson’s Death Underscores the Tragedy and Impact of Sudden Cardiac Arrest

June 25, 2009 by FromTheCrowd

WASHINGTON, June 25 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association said Thursday that pop singer Michael Jackson’s death at the age of 50 underscores the tragedy of sudden cardiac arrest, which kills nearly 300,000 Americans each year and is the nation’s leading cause of death.

“Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is the result of an electrical disruption of the heart and is different than a heart attack. It can strike seemingly healthy individuals without warning, including those with no known history of heart disease. SCA kills an American once every two minutes and can happen virtually anytime and anywhere. Nearly 80 percent of all sudden cardiac arrests occur in the home, like in Mr. Jackson’s case. Even though Mr. Jackson’s collapse was apparently witnessed, emergency medical services responded promptly and Mr. Jackson’s home was near UCLA Medical Center, it was still not sufficient to revive Mr. Jackson because SCA victims usually need immediate CPR and the shock of an automated external defibrillator (AED) if they are to have any chance of survival. Today’s news should be a reminder that CPR is a basic life-saving skill that everyone should know, and that AEDs should be widely deployed to enhance the chance of survival.”

Snow Patrol Announce U.S. Fall Headline Tour

June 23, 2009 by FromTheCrowd

NEW YORK, June 22 — Multi-platinum Fiction/Polydor/Geffen recording artist Snow Patrol have announced dates for their upcoming headline tour of the U.S. The tour starts September 10th in St. Paul, MN, and will criss-cross the U.S. and Canada before finishing up in Los Angeles on October 20th. The band, led by frontman Gary Lightbody, has been keeping some high-profile company: They are currently on the road with pop megastars Coldplay and will also support fellow Irishmen U2 on their 360 Degree Tour this fall.

Snow Patrol are on the road in support of their current album A Hundred Million Suns, which was produced by Jacknife Lee (U2, R.E.M., Bloc Party). The follow-up to 2006′s worldwide smash Eyes Open, the album debuted at No. 2 in the UK, where it has been certified Platinum, and climbed to No. 9 on the Billboard album chart in the U.S. Praised by All Music Guide as “the group’s best work yet,” A Hundred Million Suns has also earned raves from The Daily Telegraph, which proclaimed it “an epic, widescreen, decidedly modern rock record.” In its grade-A review, The Onion declared “A Hundred Million Suns might just be Snow Patrol’s biggest, most genuine effort yet.”

A Hundred Millions Suns has spawned two No. 1 Triple A radio hit singles, “Take Back the City,” and “Crack The Shutters” and is on pace to become the band’s third multi-platinum-selling release in the UK, following 2003′s Final Straw and 2006′s Eyes Open, featuring the smash single “Chasing Cars,” which has sold 2.5 million downloads in the U.S. alone.

“There aren’t many songwriters who capture the vulnerability and humor of being stupid in love as masterfully as Snow Patrol singer and main songwriter Gary Lightbody.”

– The Los Angeles Times

The Jonas Brothers World Tour 2009 Receives Rave Reviews

four horns and two strings ADDED for “fuller, richer and complex” new sound

Tickets Still AVAILABLE for AUGUST 11th SHOW AT JOBING.COM ARENA

(Phoenix, AZ) – The Grammy nominated, and platinum-selling recording artists, Jonas Brothers launched “The Jonas Brothers World Tour 2009” in Dallas on Saturday to a crowd of about 50,000. “The Jonas Brothers offered up roughly 100 minutes of songs from three albums, including the just-released Lines, Vines and Trying Times,” the Dallas Morning News reports, “The stage, three octagons stationed smack in the middle of the stadium floor, provided plenty of room for spectacle, from a cool feature that showered ribbons of water shaped as hearts, letters and strings to a crane that extended Kevin and Joe over the audience.”

“The Jonas Brothers World Tour 2009” is the band’s most ambitious production yet. The massive 140-foot plus stage centered in the arena is “an in-the-round design that creates a plethora of floor seats that are front row (and susceptible to water deluges). The two satellite stages connected by catwalks mean that the band has even more ability to get close to fans in the,” the Ft. Worth Star Telegram adds, “They’ve added horns (four) and strings (two), and their new sound is fuller, richer and complex.”

The tour stops in Glendale for a performance at Jobing.com Arena on Tuesday, August 11. Special guests American Idol winner, 19 Entertainment/Jive Records’ platinum-selling artist and Glendale Favorite, Jordin Sparks, and rising stars, Honor Society will open the 7:30pm show.

Reserved tickets priced at $89.50, $69.50, $49.50 and $29.50. Tickets are available at LiveNation, Jobing.com Arena Box Office and all Ticketmaster online and outlets.

Live Nation and Outback Concerts are very proud to announce

LISA LAMPANELLI

SATURDAY, AUGUST 15, 2009 – 8:00 P.M.

Phoenix, AZ (June 5, 2009) – Lisa Lampanelli, dubbed by The New York Times as Comedy’s “Lovable Queen of Mean,” will bring her tough-talking, no-holds-barred comedy to Dodge Theatre on Saturday, August 15. The show will begin at 8:00 pm.

Hailed as a cross between Don Rickles, Archie Bunker, and a vial of estrogen, Lisa Lampanelli masterfully delivers her outrageous, uproarious and completely politically incorrect comedy yet again.

Lisa Lampanelli’s ability to make people laugh at their own stereotypes and differences has made her one of the hottest comedians in America.  A regular on Comedy Central’s Roasts, her show-stopping performance on the “Comedy Central Roast of Pamela Anderson” in 2005 received national attention.  She has also appeared on the Roasts of Jeff Foxworthy, closed the “Comedy Central Roast of William Shatner”, and drew headlines for her appearance on the “Comedy Central Roast of Flavor Flav.”

Her one-hour special “Dirty Girl” was nominated for a GRAMMY Award in 2007.  It aired on Comedy Central on January 28, 2007 and was a hit for the network yet again.  Her “Dirty Girl” CD and DVD was released by Warner Bros./Jack Records on January 30, 2007 and debuted at #4 on the comedy charts.

As one of the few white comedians to perform on BET’s “Comic View,” Lisa has cemented her huge crossover appeal. Lisa can be seen in the hugely popular films, “Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector” and “The Aristocrats”. She can also be seen in the Lionsgate release “Delta Farce” starring Bill Engvall, Larry the Cable Guy and D.J. Qualls and in the feature film “Drillbit Taylor,” opposite Owen Wilson.

Tweet Away New TRV$DJAM Mixtape Only Costs One Tweet

Incase you didn’t already know… New TRV$DJAM Mixtape Only Costs One Tweet

Superstar drummer Travis Barker and world-renowned turntablist DJ-AM are breaking new ground with the release of their second mixtape, “Fix Your Face Vol. 2 – Coachella ’09″. As social media enthusiasts, the two musicians have chosen to offer Twitter users an early download of their album for an unconventional price — one “tweet.”

Over the past year, the innovative duo, collectively known as TRV$DJAM, has pioneered a new style of live performance by pairing DJ-AM’s crowd-pleasing mixes with Barker’s rowdy, live drumming. Now they’ll reinvent the way their projects are distributed to fans using a unique application built by Culture Jam Labs, a unit of stealth Santa Monica start-up Culture Jam.

Using the custom engine, TRV$ and DJ-AM will give away their new mixtape as a free download once a user has tweeted the message “Download the new #trvsdjam mixtape ‘Fix Your Face Vol. 2 – Coachella 09′ in exchange for one tweet! http://twitter.trvsdjam.com/ .”

As aficionados of the thriving micro-blogging platform, TRV$DJAM recognize Twitter’s unparalleled viral marketing potential, and believe it to be the most efficient way to deliver their new project to the public. With each new tweet, fans are empowered to spread the word of the new mixtape before its made available anywhere else. Both artists look forward to staying at the forefront of music’s digital revolution, and establishing themselves as trendsetters in the industry one tweet at a time.
