America’s Heroes Are Front and Center at Cracker Barrel

Exclusive new Montgomery Gentry CD, For Our Heroes, goes on sale today; sales will provide funds for care of wounded servicemen and women

The newest Montgomery Gentry CD, For Our Heroes, goes on sale today exclusively at all Cracker Barrel Old Country Store(R) locations, and your purchase of this special CD will provide funding for the Wounded Warrior Project, whose mission is to honor and empower wounded warriors.

This 12-song CD features familiar hits like “Something To Be Proud Of” and “My Town.” It also includes an exclusive new song, “One Of Those Days,” as well as four songs that have received only limited release previously. Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry say they were pleased to work on this CD with Cracker Barrel because “we think it’s important to support the soldiers, the men and women who fight for us every day so that we can live in the freedom of this great country, the United States of America.”

The way this CD supports America’s wounded soldiers is that Cracker Barrel will donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of each CD to the Wounded Warrior Project, helping them to ensure this generation of wounded is the most successful and well-adjusted in our nation’s history. Cracker Barrel is also selling T-shirts featuring the Wounded Warrior Project’s logo of a soldier carrying a wounded compatriot. These go on sale today at all Cracker Barrel locations and a portion of these sales will also be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project. In fact, from today through May 31st, Cracker Barrel will double the donation to Wounded Warrior Project for every CD and T-shirt that is sold.

As part of this CD release, you can sign up for the Cracker Barrel sweepstakes to win some great prizes, including the Grand Prize of a trip for two to see Montgomery Gentry on Kenny Chesney’s Sun City Carnival Tour in Indianapolis, IN on September 19th. That prize includes two roundtrip airline tickets, two nights hotel stay and $200 in spending money. The sweepstakes also features three First Prizes of Copley guitars autographed by Montgomery Gentry. Enter the contest at crackerbarrel.com.

“Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry are great artists to work with on this exclusive CD project,” says Cracker Barrel’s Vice President of Marketing Peter Keiser. “They have for a long time demonstrated their support of and appreciation for our country’s service people. That concern is aligned with Cracker Barrel’s multi-year support of the Wounded Warrior Project.” Keiser added that this CD recognizes that many of the popular restaurant concept’s guests are Montgomery Gentry fans who will be excited about this opportunity to enjoy this exclusive music project while supporting the efforts of the Wounded Warrior Project.

For Our Heroes is the latest project in an impressive collection of exclusive music available only at Cracker Barrel. It follows March’s release of Dolly Parton’s Collectors’ Edition of Backwoods Barbie and a number of exclusive releases in 2008 — November’s release of Bill Gaither’s Homecoming Hymns, the August release of Kenny Rogers: 50 Years, the July release of Ricky Skaggs’ The High Notes and the April release of Aaron Tippin’s He Believed. Over the last few years, Cracker Barrel has released exclusive CDs featuring Alison Krauss & Union Station, Josh Turner, Amy Grant, Sara Evans, and Charlie Daniels.

First-Ever MTV Video Music Awards Moonman for Best Rock Band Music Video to be Awarded to Contest Winner

Today, MTV and MTV Games, a part of Viacom’s MTV Networks and Pepsi announced a multi-platform “Drink Up, Rock Out” promotion that will give away thousands of Rock Band(R) DLC music tracks and games. Music lovers and gamers nationwide will be able to win prizes instantly and will have the opportunity to participate in the first-ever Pepsi Rock Band music video contest that will award one talented band a 2009 MTV Video Music Awards Moonman. The summer promotion begins June 2 and continues through the MTV Video Music Awards.

As part of the “Drink Up, Rock Out” promotion, fans who see a Rock Band icon on specially-marked packages of 20-ounce and 1-liter bottles of Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Pepsi Max and other Pepsi products are encouraged to look under the cap for a code and then go to www.PepsiRockBand.com to enter the code for a chance to win prizes. During the promotion, MTV and Pepsi will give away a Rock Band(R)2 Special Edition bundle every hour and thousands of Rock Band downloadable tracks each day. Additionally, fans can enter a weekly sweepstakes for opportunities to win a trip to a Harrah’s Entertainment property, Xbox 360 Consoles and other great prizes.

“MTV’s Rock Band has quickly established a new gaming platform that is extremely popular with music fans and gamers alike,” said Ralph Santana, VP of cola marketing, Pepsi-Cola North America Beverages. “We’re partnering with MTV to bring a new exciting twist to the game that will give one talented band a once-in-a-lifetime experience and a taste of stardom.”

Christina Glorioso, Vice President Marketing Partnerships for MTV Games added: “Pepsi is continuing their long standing tradition of being on the forefront of music with the decision to partner with Rock Band, the genre-defining music game platform that allows music fans and gamers to interact with and discover music like never before. This campaign has something for every Pepsi consumer from those that love to rock to the fans that love to cheer on their favorite bands.”

And for those Rock Band groups who seek fame, Pepsi, Rock Band, and MTV are giving fans the opportunity to win a Moonman for the first time by entering their own Rock Band music video into the competition. Entrants can choose a song from the official competition list — available at www.rockband.com/pepsi and start making their Rock Band music video right now. Music video submissions can be uploaded to www.PepsiRockBand.com where bands and fans will be able to enter, view, rate and vote on their favorite Rock Band music videos. To jump start the promotion, MTV Games is giving hardcore fans, those that upload a music video on the first day of the promotion (June 2 before 6pm EDT), the opportunity to win a trip to Los Angles the very next day to be the house band at the Rock Band booth at E3. Fans must register separately on June 2 to be entered for the chance to win this prize at www.rockband.com/pepsi.

For a shot to win the Moonman, Pepsi Rock Band music video submissions will be accepted June 2 through July 28. Beginning August 8 – September 1, fans take the reins as they vote online and decide the fate of the winning Rock Band band. The winning band will travel to the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, walk the red carpet, receive their very-own Moonman statue, and will be featured in a spot produced by MTV to air the night of the awards show.

blink-182 Announce Summer Tour

BAND REUNITES FOR FIRST TOUR IN 5 YEARS AND DELIVERS FOR FANS WITH $20 ALL-INCLUSIVE LAWN TICKETS

WEEZER, FALL OUT BOY To Join The Most Dynamic Tour Package All Summer

Additional Support Acts On Different Dates: Panic At The Disco, All American Rejects, Taking Back Sunday, Asher Roth and Chester French

LOS ANGELES, May 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Setting the alternative nation abuzz with excitement and anticipation, Travis Barker, Tom Delonge and Mark Hoppus, better known as blink-182, one of the world’s greatest punk rock bands, earlier this year officially announced they are back together. Today they are confirming their monster summer tour which features a ton of great bands and is the first-ever national tour to offer lawn tickets at a $20 all-inclusive price for each amphitheater show. The Live Nation produced tour kicks off on July 24th in Las Vegas, NV and culminates October 3rd at The Borgata in Atlantic City. The national tour will be presented by T-Mobile Sidekick LX, State Farm and MySpace. Tickets are available at www.livenation.com beginning May 30.

In addition to the hit-filled headlining blink-182 set, the tour will feature a full package of support acts such as Fall Out Boy, Weezer, Panic At The Disco, All American Rejects, Taking Back Sunday, Chester French and Asher Roth. The band chose to feature support acts that were mutual friends, along with some exciting new artists.

With more than 20 million albums sold worldwide, blink-182 is widely considered one of the best punk rock bands of all time. Formed in the San Diego suburbs in 1993, the band found international fame, multi-platinum albums and massive radio airplay success before breaking up in 2004. Although each member went on to their own successful projects, personal events and natural chemistry brought them back together. In what each of the band members describe as nothing short of fate, they have newfound inspiration and creativity together, and are working to create the summer’s best rock show. Known for connecting with their fans, blink-182 is out to prove that after five years apart, they can still deliver a massive show and this will be the highlight of the summer touring season.

This summer, blink-182 is vowing to give fans the best value for their dollar. As the tour primarily stops at Live Nation amphitheaters, the band has taken the extraordinary step of making lawn tickets available at $20 including all fees while supplies last. NO charge for parking, ticketing fees, no tax, No nothing… You got a 20 dollar bill and you’re on the lawn and in the show.

“We can’t wait to get out on tour this summer. After a four year break, we’re ready to get out on the road and play what we hope will be the most amazing tour of the season. The lineup is awesome. We’ve got an ever-changing roster of bands, from the most established and successful names in rock and roll, to the hottest up and coming artists on the scene. For production, we’re putting together the most ambitious stage show of our career. Working with Martin Phillips (stage designer for Daft Punk, Kanye West, Nine Inch Nails, etc), you can expect the most ridiculous display of lights and images we can imagine. And the best part is that we’re bringing all of this together for one of the lowest-priced tours of the summer. We’ve worked very hard with the promoters to make possible something that has never been done by any major touring act. 20 dollar tickets. 20 dollars gets you into the blink-182 tour this summer. No hidden fees, no parking fees, no extras, no processing charge. 20 dollars and you’re at the show. Good Times!” said blink-182 bassist Mark Hoppus.

“blink-182 has made a career out of outrageous behavior,” said Live Nation’s, Jason Garner, “so it’s fitting that they are breaking the rules again creating such a huge show at an incredibly low price. It will be a can’t miss event.”

“Ever since I heard ‘dude ranch’ I knew I wanted to meet blink-182. They basically were saying and doing everything I wanted to, only in smarter and funnier ways. To have the chance to join them on tour has always been a dream for our band. We thought we probably would never have the chance. It’s good for music that blink-182 is making noise again. I’m really happy to be able to see it from such a close point of view,” said Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz.

Keep an eye out for details about how to experience a special Blink 182 concert coming soon through an unprecedented technology that will bring the band to fans like nothing ever before. Curious about the venue? Craving a ticket? Stay tuned for more to come on how to get in on this first-of-its-kind Blink performance, taking place before the nationwide tour kicks-off.

The tour is presented by the new T-Mobile Sidekick LX. This summer, T-Mobile will support blink-182 and the tour with a national promotion and also implement programming in top U.S. markets that the band is scheduled to hit. Additional details on the tour and promotion will be available later this summer at www.sidekick.com.

State Farm is also excited to be a Presenting Sponsor of the Blink 182 tour. This sponsorship will allow State Farm to connect and engage blink-182 fans on site and online through exciting consumer promotions and give-aways.

2009 Austin City Limits Music Festival Line Up Announced

May 18, 2009 by FromTheCrowd

Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band, Beastie Boys, Kings of Leon, Ben Harper and Relentless7, and Thievery Corporation to headline Austin City Limits Music Festival.

The 2009 Austin City Limits Music Festival will showcase a diverse blend of acts both fresh and familiar at the eighth edition of the event in Zilker Park October 2-4. Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band, and Beastie Boys are performing for the first time at the Festival, with Kings of Leon, Ben Harper and Relentless7, and Thievery Corporation returning to Zilker Park once again. John Legend, The Dead Weather, and The Levon Helm Band will also make their ACL Festival debut, while Austin‘s own Ghostland Observatory will no doubt deliver another memorable set for festival goers.

With over 130 artists on this year’s bill, the list of acts awes at each note with the likes of Sonic Youth, Mos Def, Toadies, Flogging Molly, The B-52s, Lily Allen, Citizen Cope, Arctic Monkeys, The Decemberists, Coheed and Cambria, Andrew Bird, Girl Talk, and many more.

In the tradition of the TV show from which it was born, the Festival has always aimed to offer musical discovery for the fans. The 2009 lineup is rich with pop, country, folk, bluegrass, blues, reggae, indie rock, hip-hop, and gospel, to name a few, spanning cultures and countries from New Orleans to Venezuela to France.

Three-day passes are available and selling at a brisk clip at the Regular price of $185. As always, prices include all service fees. Tickets and VIP packages are available at www.aclfestival.com.

“Zilker Park’s transformation is nearly complete,” said Charlie McCabe, Executive Director of the Austin Parks Foundation, non-profit beneficiary of the Festival. “The fields have been re-graded, over 17,000 linear feet of irrigation pipe are now in place, and work began to install 42 acres of new sod on Earth Day. Patrons of this year’s Festival will rock out on a lush new blanket of grass, and the Austin community will enjoy a greener park this year and in years to come.”

The ACL Festival is committed to minimizing its environmental impact with green initiatives in practice throughout Zilker Park. This year’s Festival will once again be carbon neutral. Festival goers are encouraged to get in on the act by buying a BeGreen Fan Tag during the ticket purchase process to offset their Festival travel, riding free Festival shuttles, walking, or biking to the grounds. Honda, ACL Festival’s official eco-partner, is upping the ante of the Rock & Recycle program this year for fans willing to do their part for the environment. Fans that Rock &
Recycle in Zilker Park will earn the chance to win a brand new 2010 Honda Insight hybrid.

The 2009 Austin City Limits Music Festival is generously sponsored by AMD, Dell, Austin Ventures, BMI, H-E-B, Heineken, Sweet Leaf Tea, and VitaminWater.

Phoenix Concert Review: Nine Inch Nails Owns the Cricket Pavilion Stage May 15 2009

by Cassie Roberts, www.FromTheCrowd.com Contributor

Some shows, have a lot of hype, from fans, from the media and well from just a lot of great PR, however, after the show begins, you realize its all just hype. Occasionally, this is due in no part to the actual band performing, but in some cases, the crowd itself, or some other outside factor like the weather. In some cases the bar, has simply been set too high.

Here in Arizona, we already have two things going against us, the weather (anytime after March) and the crowds (which aren’t exactly known for being the most supportive, in the I’m going to stand the entire show type of way). Even the most seasoned performer can fail to deliver with these two roadblocks, you just never know until the set has begun.

There was a lot of hype with the NIN|JA tour, after all it is the first tour in 9 years with them sharing a stage… so I have to admit I was concerned, but with my ticket in hand, with faith in Nine Inch Nails and Jane’s Addiction, I had a good feeling about tonight and I was right!

I do have to give props to Street Sweeper Social Club. I had read and heard some great things and they provided a set that was unlike anything I was expecting. I feel privilege to be there on the ground floor with them on this tour. Sure, I’m talking about Tom Morello and Boots Riley, two legendary performers in their own genre, but would they mix? The answer to that is an overwhelming YES!

Jane’s Addiction also delivered a strong set and was able to get the crowd motivated and on their feet, however, the night belonged to Nine Inch Nails.

All of the elements were in place for one of those once in a life time performances. Sure it was hot, but there was an amazing energy in the crowd, that was matched by NIN on stage. The sounds, the lighting, the crowd and the music all collided to create the perfect enviorment for NIN as to deliver, perhaps the one of the best performances I have ever witnessed. The set was moving, the stage and lighting were unprecedented and the crowd was eating out of the palm of their hands.

To steal a tweet from Tom Morello (http://twitter.com/tmorello) @tmorello shared: “It is near impossible to make a musical moment in a 15,000 seat venue “haunting” but NIN “Hurt” is that and more. Just stunning. Unreal.” Keep in mind who this statement is coming from.

If you missed this show, you may never forgive yourself, however, you still have time to catch them on tour for the rest of the summer near by. It’s time for a road trip!
